Varian can change shapes into any organic (as in living, it can't grow wheels and become a tank or something...) matter as long as its new form doesn't deviate more than 60% from it's default form. Ex: It can turn its arms into wings, its lips into a beak and become smaller, but can never fully take on the form of a bird. It can also take parts from various organic matter and combine them into one form. (Imagaine combining the teeth of a shark, the claws of a lion, the tail of a scorpion, the legs of a cheeta, the eyes of an eagle, etc.) Once again, the new form cannot deviate more than 60% from the default. In the same vein, Varian can change genders on a whim.

Yes, Varian did have a gender at one point. No, I'm not telling you what it was.
